“I’ve always wanted my art to be inclusive, inviting and engaging to all who see it. Whenever I create a piece in a public space I consider the local community and what will be valued by them”. Growing up in South London much of Artista’s early commissioned works were from local
clients who were inspired by her artwork.
One client wanted life and colour brought to
the outside of his new tiny home that he made from a converted coach. Now, for the first time, Artista’s art was truly in motion travelling through the capital on giant wheels. This concept has taken her work beyond the boundaries of walls and she has since painted various mobile objects such as vehicles, home furniture and accessories.
As her client base grew so did the size of her murals. Artista has been actively involved with some great Community pieces that scale two / three stories high. Working on much larger scales has enabled her mural work to really grow and this is where her signature style,
‘In Bloom’ really blossomed.
"One of the tallest walls I have painted was in Newcastle at 40 foot High. More recently one of the longest walls I’ve painted in my ‘bloom style’ was a 20 foot high and 400 foot long wall in Belfast, which took me 4 days to complete. I used a combination of handheld Spraypaint and a Petrol Spray Gun Compressor to complete the job. Both walls were funded by the Local Authorities as part of Festivals taking place in that town and were great
experiences to be part of.”
